The J. Paul Getty Trust is seeking candidates for the Director of the Getty Foundation. The position is the senior executive managing the Getty Foundation and is a key member of the Trust’s overall executive leadership team.
Reporting to the President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust, and working closely with the Getty’s other Program Directors and Vice Presidents, the Foundation Director is responsible for overseeing and guiding the Getty’s grant making activities in alignment with the Getty Trust’s programmatic priorities and goals.
The Foundation Director will have a key role in the design and management of Getty-wide strategic grant initiatives, which promote the interdisciplinary practice of conservation, strengthen art history as a global discipline, increase access to and public interest in museum and archival collections, and develop current and future leaders in the visual arts.

The J. Paul Getty Museum is seeking an experienced scheduler to coordinate planning and scheduling activities for the museum’s docent tour program across the Getty Center and Getty Villa. Annually, over one million visitors enjoy the Getty’s special exhibitions and collections, and take advantage of in-depth tours led by docent guides and gallery educators. The Senior Scheduler is an essential role within the Museum’s Education Department, as this individual oversees the deployment of docents and resources to ensure adequate coverage and staffing based on high-volume visitor traffic. The individual needs to be a strategic thinker to handle complex tour mapping across both sites, a problem solver, diplomatic, and extremely detail oriented. Additionally, the Senior Scheduler manages the docent website to facilitate scheduling. This position reports to the Manager of Docent Programs, and also works closely with other internal departments in the Education program, including School Communities, Gallery Education, and external departments such as Visitor Services and Museum Security.
Under direction, supervises Grounds operations for assigned areas, including supervision and coordination of site labor, contractors, equipment, and supplies. Ensures appropriate documentation of operating policies and procedures required to maintain Getty landscape and site(s) at the expected level.
Getty Publications produces award-winning books that result from or complement the work of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Foundation. This wide variety of titles--approximately 35 a year--covers the fields of art, photography, archaeology, architecture, conservation, and the humanities for both the general public and specialists. Publications include illustrated works on artists and art history, exhibition catalogues, works on cultural history, research on the conservation of materials and archaeological sites, scholarly monographs, critical editions of translated works, comprehensive studies of the Getty’s collections, and educational books on art to interest children of all ages. The majority of Getty Publications are produced in print but we are developing an increasing number of digital publications.
Reporting to the Publisher and working in collaboration with colleagues in the department and across the Trust, the Design and Production Manager is responsible for the design and production of high-quality, complex illustrated books and related sales and marketing materials in a fast-paced publishing environment.
Organizes and conducts training and institutional programs in coordination with management for promotional development, in-service training, and employee orientation. Prepares lesson plans including the method, media and documentation to be presented. Conducts follow up and maintains records of training activities. Tracks employee progress and analyzes program effectiveness. Participates in the design and development of training materials. Requires knowledge and understanding of adult learning theories. Designs and develops in-house training materials using various media. Prepares and supports staff to perform their job duties. Works with operations management team to identify training opportunities, and partner with operational supervisors and managers in the delivery of training.
Under general supervision, provides technical support to end-users for Macintosh computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices and network related problems via phone, deskside, and remotely using ticket management software.
At Getty Digital, we're re-imagining how we can use software to provide access to our collections and research. We intend to provide a deeply connected, consistent experience for scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts as they explore the complex information held across the Getty.
We're looking for a senior developer to work with our Research Application Development team. This team is responsible for the online presentation of the Getty Research Portal, the Getty Museum collection online, the Provenance Index, AATA Online, the Getty vocabularies, and other initiatives focused on the discovery and presentation of cultural heritage information. It’s a highly collaborative team with regular co-working sessions, code review, and pair programming as common practices.
As a Sr. Software Engineer, you’ll report to the team lead, and will be responsible for working with them and the rest of the team to help estimate, plan, and execute major software initiatives across the Getty, as well as supporting existing applications and projects. You will also be responsible for collaborating with and sharing expertise with a talented team of software developers, helping to set an example of best practices. You will work with subject matter experts, UX researchers, designers, and other software developers, collaborating to build experiences that help share the information shared across the Getty with the larger world.
Our software stack is Vue.js on the front end, with backend implementations in Python, data provided via APIs, and custom search interfaces using ElasticSearch. The Getty is committed to using Linked Open Data across our architecture, and to the use of IIIF for access to rich media assets.

We are looking for a developer to lead a team of software engineers focused on the narrative, interpretive, and visitor-focused experiences across the Getty. This team of four is responsible for the core Getty.edu website, as well as exhibitions, digital publications, and other initiatives, including a leadership role in a full redesign of the Getty’s core digital properties. This team is highly collaborative, with regular co-working sessions, code review, and pair programming as common practices.
As team lead, you will report to the Assistant Director of Information Systems, taking direction from the Enterprise Software Architect. You will be responsible for working with the Enterprise Software Architect and the other team leads to define the scope, plan the implementation, and execute major initiatives across the Getty, collaborating with stakeholders across the Getty. You will also be responsible for leading a talented team of software developers, helping implement policies and best practices. You will work to improve the overall quality of experience both for our users and for our developers. You will also be responsible for maintaining existing software infrastructure and helping prioritize and execute the migration of these systems onto new platforms. You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment and for working with subject matter experts across the Getty's programs. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and mentoring of the team, helping them grow as developers and experts, both at the Getty and within the field.
