We are seeking a conservation professional with a background in preventive conservation and a keen interest in education to fill a four-year limited-term Associate Project Specialist position in the Getty Conservation Institute’s Collections Department. In this role, you will be an integral team member of the multidisciplinary Managing Collection Environments Initiative, which conducts research, education, and field activities that address technical and practical issues pertaining to the sustainable control and management of collection environments in museums, libraries, and archives.   This job will begin in the office full-time. The Digital Community and Social Media Specialist III will be a key member of the Digital Media & Content Strategy department at the Getty Research Institute (GRI) and will oversee online community management and content creation for a wide variety of GRI and Getty social and digital channels.   The GRI’s Digital Media & Content Strategy department is a creative, united, highly productive, and award-winning team dedicated to publishing human-centered stories, multimedia, and online content about the GRI’s work, including exhibitions, public programs, publications, archives and special collections, and research projects. Our content is featured across the Getty website and a wide range of heavily trafficked social media channels and outlets.   The Digital Community and Social Media Specialist III will build and manage social communities, developing and managing online community partnerships, creating and facilitating the production of social media content, and helping advance the GRI’s position as an approachable industry expert with diverse audiences. These audiences range from our core professional audience of art historians and scholars, who may be working academics or looking for alternate career opportunities, to new audiences in underserved communities in Los Angeles that may be unaware of the GRI and its mission to freely disseminate visual art and show how the study of visual culture is relevant today.   The ideal candidate is an exceptional and creative communicator who is passionate about public scholarship. They will use social media content and community building to raise awareness of the GRI’s scholarly expertise and vast resources to build genuine, lively, and sustained engagement with a broad array of audiences.    In addition to community building and content creation, this position may also manage contractors to design and place social ad campaigns, managing influencer campaigns, and work in partnership with social teams in other Getty programs.   The GRI is an international center for the study of visual culture, housing one of the largest art libraries in the world, with vast special collections ranging from the 15th century to the present.

Paul Getty Trust.  The Museum operates two sites, the Getty Villa in Malibu, which exhibits its collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, and the Getty Center in Brentwood, which displays its collections of European art: Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, drawings to 1900, and photography to the present day (including non-European works).  The Museum mounts approximately 25 temporary exhibitions a year across its two sites; maintains an annual permanent gallery improvement program and offers wide-ranging and ambitious programming for its visitors.   The Opportunity   The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks a qualified Associate Conservator to join the Department of Paintings Conservation located at the Getty Center. Working primarily in the frame studio within the Paintings Conservation Department and reporting to the Senior Conservator of Paintings, the ideal candidate will be well-versed in tasks concerning general collection care with a focus on preventive conservation, preparation of loans, including framing, glazing, and the fabrication of micro-climate envelopes.

Paul Getty Museum seeks a Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Initiatives to develop the Museum’s program in 20th- and 21st-century art. Working independently as well as in collaboration with the Museum’s curatorial departments, the Curator develops programs that make engaging and meaningful connections between the Getty’s collections, exhibitions, architecture, and site and contemporary art and culture. Aside from photographs, the Museum does not collect contemporary art (although it does hold numerous works by 20th- and 21st-century artists).   The Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Initiatives will play a key role in developing and implementing the Museum’s program in contemporary art. The Curator will organize an ongoing series of artist installations in the Museum’s entrance hall and other potential locations on the Getty’s campus; work with curatorial departments to conceptualize interventions and installations in the collection’s galleries; serve as the Museum’s primary modern and contemporary curator for the special exhibitions program; and organize and advise on associated programs to expand and enrich the Museum’s interpretive goals and audience engagement.   The successful candidate will have a track-record of curating exhibitions and displays of contemporary art; well-developed relationships within the world of contemporary art, including artists, gallerists, and museum professionals; the broad art historical background to bring context and insight to the interpretive program; and the ability and willingness to develop compelling and inclusive narratives for diverse audiences. Reporting to the Associate Director for Collections, the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Initiatives will be a team player, working collaboratively with other curators, as well as with colleagues from Public Programs, Conservation, Design, Exhibition, Education, Interpretive Content, Registrars, Imaging Services and Preparators, and with curatorial colleagues at the Getty Research Institute.

The manager oversees a team of design and construction consultants, senior project managers in the preparation and execution of the design and architectural programs, procurement and contract documents, and project management administration.  The manager assures projects comply with safety and regulatory standards, applicable building codes and conform with the Getty’s overall goals and policies including protection of its real estate, visitors, staff and cultural property.   The Manager of Capital Projects works closely and in strong partnership with the four constituent programs across the institution in the development, implementation, and coordination of the Getty's capital and renewal project initiatives.      The Getty has retained Opus Partners to support this recruitment. Getty is one of the world’s prominent cultural and philanthropic organizations dedicated to the visual arts. Getty’s Investment Department manages a diversified portfolio of $8.5 billion in assets. We employ some of the top investment managers across all asset classes and have generated top quartile returns. We are seeking an Investment Associate to join our team of ten investment professionals.   The Investment Associate will be a key member of a three-person team that manages the Absolute Return, Private Credit, and Fixed Income asset classes. Principal duties will be to track, monitor, evaluate, and select investment funds and co-investments for inclusion in the portfolio. The Investment Analyst will also perform ad-hoc market and industry research and develop reports for the investment team and board.   Evaluating potential investment managers will require both quantitative and qualitative skills. The Analyst will be in charge of gathering, processing, and documenting a variety of data on investment managers, markets, and opportunities. The Associate will arrange and participate in meetings and calls with prospective investment managers and track steps and timelines in the due diligence process. The Associate will be the primary resource for portfolio analysis on these asset classes and will use a variety of tools to create performance reports. Domestic and International travel will be required.   Candidates should be familiar with a variety of hedge fund, private credit, private equity, and other alternative investment strategies; as well as traditional equity and fixed income markets.
