Reporting to Getty Research Institute’s (GRI) Sr. Exhibition Coordinator(s), this limited-term Project Administrative Manager will provide project/administrative management and oversight for a collaborative, multi-organizational launch of a series of local exhibitions and programming on the architect Paul Revere Williams. Materials for these exhibitions will be drawn from the architect’s archive, which is co-owned by the Getty Research Institute and USC School of Architecture. Paul Revere Williams was the most significant African American architect of the 20th century, with especially strong ties to Southern California and the city of Los Angeles. Documenting the entirety of Williams’ career, from his early residential commissions during Los Angeles’ housing boom of the 1920s to landmark mid-century civic structures, the archive includes approximately 35,000 plans, 10,000 original drawings, blueprints and project diazotypes, hand-colored renderings, vintage photographs, correspondence, and other materials.
The Project Administrative Manager will work with colleagues from the GRI, other Getty programs and departments including Getty Marketing and Communications, USC’s Fisher Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Project Administrative Manager will liaise with teams to monitor project timelines, schedule and lead cross-departmental / cross-organizational meetings, manage project documentation, prepare reports, support project execution while handling administrative tasks, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. The Project Administrative Manager will also oversee and monitor the interdepartmental coordination related to outgoing exhibition loans and imaging collection material to ensure that project timelines are met.
