The Division of Research and Knowledge Creation at the Getty Research Institute seeks a technically-sophisticated professional with a background in art history, humanities, or the information sciences to serve as Research, Engagement, and Outreach Specialist. This newly-created role will contribute to the modernization projects of two long-standing Getty data products, the Getty Provenance Index (GPI) and the Getty Vocabularies. Both of these important resources have been recently remodeled or are in the process of undergoing a major system migration that will provide for enhanced research possibilities and continuing growth.
The newly hired specialist will facilitate communication and engagement between research and user communities and the program teams at Getty. The specialist will assist in broadening and deepening engagement with the GPI and the Vocabularies across diverse communities, including humanities researchers, information and cultural heritage professionals, librarians, software developers, vendors, and other art enthusiasts. The specialist will also serve as a spokesperson and advocate for these new products within and outside of Getty.
This is a 4-year limited term position, which will support the Provenance Index and the Vocabularies in establishing a new and sustainable approach to outreach, through a dynamic period of change and new development, which is scheduled for completion in 2028.
