Job Summary

The Getty will contract with a cabling vendor to upgrade the existing air blown fiber cable plant throughout the Getty Center Campus. The Project Manager will oversee the RFP process with the vendor selection and the deliverables of the selected cabling contractor to include timeline, budget, and the quality of the fiber installation.  This position will manage the work of the cabling contractor for campus wide upgrade from multi-mode fiber to single-mode fiber, enabling the delivery of speeds of 10GB+ to the desktop. The position reports to the Portfolio Project Mgmt. Office and will work closely with the Campus Connectivity team and other staff from Getty Digital, Facilities, and other technologists across the organization.

 

This role will be critical in working with the design team to plan and implement the entire cable plant on the Getty Campus, ensuring the infrastructure is prepared for future technological advancements.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of project management duties: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
  • Under little to no supervision, direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines.
  • Track, coordinate, plan, and report on technical work across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Closely collaborate with GDI Campus Connectivity department for accuracy of installation.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, telecommunications engineers, and system administrators across GDI and other departments.
  • Implement management and communication plans and processes.
  • Maintain project documentation, time frames, budget estimates, and status reports.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to the budget.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies and communication to ensure project success.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage potential project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Address unexpected issues that may arise during the project.
  • Prepare post-project reports, including lessons learned and recommendations for future projects.
  • Ensure all documentation is received for understanding and transfer of knowledge from the vendor to Getty staff.
  • Coordinate or facilitate proper testing and operational readiness with the network operations team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive software analysis development and implementation experience
  • 2-5 years IT project management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience in managing fiber or copper cable plant projects a plus.
  • BICSI RCDD Certification a plus.
  • BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager Certification a plus.
