Getty is currently accepting applications for a Digital Imaging Specialist with good postproduction skills. The role, reporting to the Manager of the Museum Center Studios in Getty’s Digital Imaging Department, will perform post-processing of image files to existing standards and ensure that digital assets are appropriately organized for imaging initiatives. The position will stay current with emerging trends, equipment, and standards and engage with the cultural heritage imaging community to learn about developments in the field.

• Sets up and maintains imaging workstations, including calibrating monitors and printers.
• Follows established imaging practices, adapts precedents.
• Performs physical assessments, movement tracking and management of collection materials within studio spaces.
• Performs post-processing tasks of moderate complexity including file preparation, color correction, masking, layering, and cropping.
• Performs quality assurance, processing, and batch ingestion of digital files.
• Prepares and organizes digital files for ingest into digital repositories or delivery to other destinations utilizing file naming and tracking protocols.
• May produce prints or facsimiles for exhibition or publication purposes, monitors quality control.
• Keeps accurate technical and workflow documentation.
• Works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders on content production.

• Bachelor’s degree in photography and/or equivalent experience
• 2-5 years experience in digital photography services

• Basic knowledge of SLR camera equipment, medium and large format cameras, Phase One Digital Back and Capture One experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of studio lighting equipment and light-modifying techniques.
• Intermediate knowledge of Photoshop and other imaging manipulation software.
• Knowledge of color theory and digital imaging practice, standards, and workflows.
• Ability to handle art objects and fragile materials. 
• Highly productive and able to work in partnership in a team and self-sufficient workflow environmentSkilled in articulating ideas, clearly communicates creative concepts and technical processes.
