The role of the Office of Development is to foster strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance support for The J. Paul Getty Trust and its programs. The Donor Relations team is responsible for planning and executing a broad range of stewardship and development events and communication activities to support fundraising and advancement initiatives.
Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Officer, Strategic Communication and Stewardship will develop and execute a creative, consistent, and donor-centric stewardship and development communications strategy. The incumbent will be a key part of the Development Donor Relations team, responsible for communicating Getty initiatives and achievements to donors, prospective donors, and institutional stakeholders through diverse channels. Through deep knowledge of Getty programs and institutional priorities, and solid working relationships with curatorial and content experts, the incumbent will be responsible for creating a variety of development and stewardship materials with a focus on written communication.
This individual oversees and manages development stewardship communications and works independently in a very fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. S/he anticipates and proactively resolves problems, is a team player, and is flexible and adaptable. S/he delivers excellent customer service and works collaboratively with staff and colleagues across the Getty Trust, and must handle confidential and sensitive work with a high level of discretion, good judgement, accuracy and attention to detail.
Communication
A key member of the Development Donor Relations team, s/he composes and produces a broad range of donor communications materials for a variety of constituencies, including high-level officials inside and outside the organization.
Must be a talented writer/editor who can pivot effectively between different projects, voices and channels, and able to represent the voice of different senior leaders in written and spoken communication (drafting talking points, formal letters, and informal notes).
The incumbent will create and develop content for print, web, video, and other media. Examples of writing assignments include letters, brochures, remarks, proposals, reports, e-newsletters, event collateral and other stewardship materials. S/he will research and identify content and conduct interviews of donors, contributing to The Getty magazine, Getty Donor Digest, and internal communications platforms.
