  • Job Summary

    The J. Paul Getty Museum’s Public Affairs department seeks a highly organized, responsible and flexible individual to produce and manage a variety of communication content and projects for the Museum. Reporting to the Museum’s Associate Director for Public Affairs, the Content Production Specialist is responsible for contributing subject matter expertise, working with original and adapted content, and providing technical experience. Works with Museum stakeholders, as well as colleagues from across the J. Paul Getty Trust to ensure that the Museum’s communication goals are met, as well as the timely delivery of content and projects.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Produces and distributes for approval Today at the Getty sheets for both Museum locations: Getty Center and Getty Villa. Coordinates with stakeholders to promote particular events, audio tours, or exhibitions. Collates edits, and sends to printer on a weekly basis.
    • Manages a variety of sections on the Getty.edu website, which includes making updates and changes in Teamsite and generating pages for review and approval by key constituents:
      • The Museum Home Page;
      • The home pages for the Curatorial and Conservation departments;
      • The About the J. Paul Getty Museum page; and
      • The Museum’s page on Getty Online (internal website).
    • Works with Trust Communications on the Getty.edu home page rotator to establish priorities for Museum content, providing information to Trust Communications on a regular basis to keep the home page current.
    • Creates all Event Management System (EMS) entries in Getty 360 for exhibitions and public programs. This includes uploading all content and images into Teamsite, adding codes for exhibition websites to create links for programs to the exhibition pages and links to other departments as appropriate.
    • Reviews and gathers feedback on exhibition web pages; provides comments to Interpretive Content department and authorizes the publishing of pages once all feedback has been incorporated.
    • Provides Now on View content/information to Trust Web Group for publishing to online Visit pages on a monthly basis.
    • Serves as a liaison between the Museum and Trust Communications with regards to public programs by:
      • Monitoring daily ticket report to flag programs that require special promotional support; identifying promotional tools that might help provide an additional push to support these programs.
      • Managing quarterly programming meetings that include programmers and members of Trust Communications to discuss and establish priorities for upcoming promotional efforts.
    • Monthly 360 events email: reviews and circulates to stakeholders in Public Programs, Exhibitions, and Image Rights; provides edits to Trust Communications on a monthly basis.
    • Oversight for various Museum sections in the Trust Report to include gathering and editing all “back of the report” information (exhibitions for the year, acquisitions for the year, scholars, etc.); provides high-resolution images and captions for all sections (except for Director’s essay); reviews and circulates multiple proofs (including one for the website) for review and approval. This project occurs once annually, but runs its course over about four to six months from start to finish.

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s degree preferably related to digital media production

    • Demonstrated experience managing multi medium projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as social media, web, blogs, wikis, etc.

    • Proven experience managing and monitoring project activities.
    • Background in Art History and/or experience working in a museum environment a major plus.
