  • Job Summary

    Conducts research, content development and/or editorial functions, and assists the exhibition curator with diverse tasks in preparation for the exhibition, "At the Crossroads: Qandahar in Images and Empires."  Assists with all aspects of exhibition preparation of facsimiles, working with original materials in special collections; interacting with curatorial and special collections staff, digital media management, and communications.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Applies advanced knowledge of research procedures and protocols to assignments of moderate complexity, including extended online searching
    • Drafts labels and texts; performs basic editing functions
    • Compilation of object lists; object tracking; taking measurements; ordering photography; preparing digital surrogates; creating and managing TMS (the collection management system) records; research and compilation of collection information for exhbition texts

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in art history or related field; Master's degree, or possibly Ph.D. in South Asian studies highly preferred.  Knowledge of Afghan culture preferred.
    • 0-2 years research experience, preferably more
    • Foreign language skills essential, especially Pashto and Dari

    • Ability to set and meet deadlines for oneself
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software suites preferred
