  • Job Summary

    We are looking for an individual to provide technical expertise to teams in providing public and private cloud based solutions. The AWS cloud engineer will be required to gather business requirements, make recommendations and implement standards and solutions. You will assist teams with their CI/CD pipelines and help drive new technologies and policies to create scalable solutions.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Administer and manage the overall cloud infrastructure and services
    • Design and deploy the infrastructure and services for new applications
    • Work with teams to move existing applications and services to a cloud provider
    • Install and manage container orchestration software and repositories
    • Work with others to design, build and manage CI/CD pipelines
    • Builds, installs, configures, analyzes, tunes, and troubleshoots operating system to achieve optimum performance levels
    • Resolves difficult system problems and provides consultation or training
    • Configures and assist in the design of cloud, system and network security
    • Monitors and analyzes resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance
    • Participates in capacity, performance and availability planning for system configuration, software services, network services, load distribution, and service interrelationships among systems and services
    • Compares, evaluates, and implements new technologies, and integrates them into the cloud computing environment
    • Creates documents for users, support staff, consulting personnel, and developers
    • Acts as liaison with various departments across campus
    • Facilitates vendor relationships

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
    • 5-8 years of Windows, Unix, Linux or mobile system administration experience
    • Specific experience in systems design, implementation, analysis, and project management

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Azure. AWS experience is a plus.
    • Knowledge of a private cloud platform including OpenStack or Cloud Stack is a plus.
    • Experience using Docker and container orchestration, such as Kubernetes.
    • Experience with a configuration management tool including Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Salt.
    • Experience using and maintaining CI/CD tools is a plus. You have worked with Bamboo, Jenkins or Terraform or similar tools
    • Experience with cloud storage solutions
    • Experience with monitoring and managing cloud resources
    • Experience with multiple types of operating systems. Linux experience is preferred.
    • Experience in a scripting language including Perl, PowerShell, Python or shell scripting
    • Knowledge in one or more programming languages for system development is a plus
    • Experience with networking protocols and implementations
    • Demonstrated knowledge of security protocols and vulnerability remediation
    • Ability to manage shared resources, perform moderately complex tasks and resolve complex systems problems
    • Ability to collaborate with team members
    • Ability to train to others in cloud, applications and operating system fundamentals
    • Experience with web based applications and infrastructure
