  • Job Summary

    Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Head of Auxiliary Services Operations, will lead the organization in delivering a vision of a highly reliable, customer-oriented and collaborative organization with a focus on effective and efficient operation.  Ability to maintain facilities to world-class presentation levels is critical to the Getty.   The Head of Auxiliary Services Operations oversees contracts, budgets, planning and staffing of multiple departments including Community Affairs, Property Management, Food Service, Events, Audio Visual, Mail Services, Warehousing, Fleet Vehicles and Custodial at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa.   Among the essential duties is establishing department objectives to then interpret, execute and recommend modifications to department or division policies as well as to serve as a key Facilities emergency leader to ensure Getty operations continuity.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Provide strong operations and financial oversight. Support the Facilities Director and management team compiling annual budget, capital and facilities renewal budgets, and long-range planning.
    • Manage and direct the operations of managers and supervisors within Facilities including mentoring, coaching, counseling, training, evaluating and coordinating their work.
    • Prepare budgets and ensure budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met for departments.  
    • Oversite of complex contracts including monitoring performance of work for outside contractors including food service, custodial and integrated pest management. Ability to develop contracts and lead the procurement process.
    • Establish and participate in development, modification and execution of policies that affect immediate operations and may have organization-wide effect. Identify and pursue opportunities to optimize effectiveness.  Contribute to development of objectives and long-range strategic goals for the organization.
    • Apply advanced knowledge of Facilities management and fiscal oversight used by supervisory, professional, lead and project staff and act as an senior advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve complex technical or operational problems within Facilities and with other Getty programs and departments
    • Work directly with internal and external clients on a variety of issues and projects.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of effective leadership with a world-class facilities management background and strong customer service experience.

     

    In addition, this position requires:

     

    • A Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 15 years of Facilities management experience, preferably in a cultural arts or higher education environment. Strong technical skills and operations background.  A Master’s degree in business, facilities management or related field is preferred.
    • Outstanding communication within all levels of the organization.
    • Exceptional time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated sound judgment, with integrity, and observes ethical standards.
    • Execution of professional responsibilities with due care, competence and diligence in accordance with the profession standards.
