  • Job Summary

    Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Head of Services manages the contracts, budgets, planning and staffing of multiple departments within Facilities including Community Affairs, Food Service, Events, Audio Visual, Mail Services, Warehousing and Custodial at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa, as well as other Getty properties.   Establishes department objectives and interprets, executes and recommends modifications to department or division policies.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Strong experienced leader with world-class facilities management background.
    • Strong and effective customer service experience
    • Serves as a key Facilities emergency leader to ensure Getty operations continuity
    • Provides strong operations and financial oversight.   Supports the Facilities Director and management team compiling annual budget and long-range planning.
    • Manages and directs the operations of managers and supervisors within Facilities including mentoring, coaching, counseling, training, evaluating and coordinating their work
    • Ensures budget, schedules and performance requirements are met for departments; prepares budgets.
    • Oversite of complex contracts including monitoring performance of work for outside contractors including food service, custodial and integrated pest management. Ability to develop contracts and lead the procurement process.
    • Establishes and participates in development, modification and execution of policies that affect immediate operations and may have organization-wide effect.  Identifies and pursues opportunities to optimize effectiveness.  Contributes to development of objectives and long-range strategic goals for the organization
    • Applies advanced knowledge of Facilities management and fiscal oversight used by supervisory, professional, lead and project staff
    • Acts as an senior advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve complex technical or operational problems within Facilities and with other Getty programs and departments
    • Works directly with internal and external clients on a variety of issues and projects


    Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 15 years of Facilities management experience, preferably in a cultural arts or higher education environment.  Strong technical skills and operations background.  Master’s Degree preferred in business, facilities management or related field.
