  • Job Summary

    Oversees and directs all aspects of enterprise server and storage architecture, including design, development, deployment and operation. Applies comprehensive knowledge of advanced operating systems and storage systems to current and future environment. Manages the most complex operating system and storage projects and ensures departmental support for all components.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Researches, designs, and oversees the development, installation and maintenance of all operating systems, storage systems, utilities, and applications software
    • Oversees resolution of system emergencies with significant impact on the integrity of user data and systems
    • Researches, designs and implements system security strategies, policies, and procedures
    • Establishes software/hardware standards and systems policies and procedures
    • Directs long-term strategic planning with regard to systems development and integration
    • Conceptualizes and implements systems within broad technical or structural frameworks
    • Oversees capacity, performance and availability planning for system configuration, software services, network services, load distribution, and service interrelationships among computer systems
    • Acts as a technical expert or lead for all computer system administration
    • Acts as project leader on the largest-scale computing projects in which strong technical, directional, and personal leadership is necessary; assigns and oversees the work of other system administrators as needed
    • Manages vendor relationships and cost effective hardware and software maintenance agreements with vendors

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience; Master’s degree highly preferred

    • 12+ years of Windows, Unix or Linux system administration experience

    • At least 5 years of experience managing systems administration staff

    • In-depth experience in large-scale system design, implementation, analysis, and project management

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Expert knowledge of complex multi-system platforms and vendors
    • Expertise in developing staff to achieve department and organizational goals
    • Deep experience coordinating multi-system and computing environments in independent computing facilities
    • Experience developing/implementing a business continuation and disaster recovery plan
    • Expert ability to develop appropriate plans to meet computing and storage needs
    • Proven ability to lead and work on the largest and most complex system deployment projects in a team environment
    • Expert knowledge of security trends and best practices
    • Proven ability to lead a technical team to resolve highly complex systems problems
    • Proven ability to lead on premise to cloud ( AWS and/or Azure) cloud migrations
    • Familiar with DEVOPS practices and implementations
