  • Job Summary

    Provides administrative and technical support for all organization-wide employee benefits programs. Works with external recordkeeper in administering COBRA; assists with workshops/symposiums related to benefits and financial wellness; and conducts benefits-related sessions for new staff onboarding. Interacts with staff across the institution, responding to HR and benefits related inquiries. Assists with special projects as requested. Responsibilities necessitate confidentiality, awareness of regulations regarding privacy and strong customer service ability and attitude.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Applies comprehensive knowledge to a variety of assignments of moderate complexity.
    • Responds to employees’ benefits related questions regarding eligibility, coverage, life events and benefit enrollment.
    • May coordinate with insurance carrier to resolve issues.
    • Audits and maintains related records and database.
    • Produces weekly eligibility data files and verifies data in HR management system (PeopleSoft).
    • Assists with mailings, filing, and other benefits-related administrative tasks.
    • Assists with coordinating open enrollment, benefits fair and other educational programming as needed.
    • Recommends and manages changes to the company’s benefits website and intranet pages related to area of responsibility.
    • Processes benefit payments to vendors.
    • Assists with tracking benefit payments for employee on leave; familiarity with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards a plus.


    • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field
    • Minimum 4 years progressively responsible human resources related experience
    • Must be knowledgeable in applicable Federal and State laws and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, FMLA, COBRA
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Experience in a role requiring the highest level of confidentiality and handling highly sensitive personal information
