  • Job Summary

    The J. Paul Getty Museum's Imaging department seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, responsible individual for a limited term position to support the Museum's digital imaging initiatives at the Getty Villa. The position will handle documentation, post-processing and organization of captured images. Duties may include data management, batch processing and post-processing tasks such as color correction, cropping and masking. The position requires great attention to detail, comfort performing repetitive tasks and the ability to keep accurate technical and workflow documentation. The position will be renewed yearly until the project is complete.

    Major Job Responsibilities

    • Applies knowledge of digital capture and the digitization process to document collection objects
    • May digitize objects from the collection
    • Performs basic post-processing tasks including, file preparation, color correction, cropping for ingest into digital repositories or delivery to other digital file destinations
    • Performs quality assurance, processing and batch ingestion of digital files
    • Applies knowledge of digital asset management and institutional policies to ensure the appropriate cataloguing and management of files
    • Organizes digital files, utilizing file naming and tracking protocols



    • High School/GED

    • 0-2 years digital imaging experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


    • Basic knowledge of digital imaging
    • Prior experience with high end scanners, drum and flatbed scanners
    • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop software
    • Basic knowledge of digital file color correction
    • Prior experience with data management and cataloguing
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and e-mail applications
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions, efficently and accuratly
